My Top Netflix Recommendations

Netflix is my fave! But sometimes finding the right movie to watch can be a grand task. I like comedies but it can be too outrageously silly and I like thrillers with creative thought-provoking elements, not just jump-scares. So sometimes finding the right Netflix movie or series is a hit or miss. To help me out, I’ll scour the internet for recommendations. Some recommendations turn out great and others don’t keep me interested longer than 10 minutes. So when I do find great netflix movies and series i have to share them with you.

Let’s end the choosing a Netflix movie/series struggle once and for all. Let’s collate and share all our personal favourites. I’m starting a Netflix recommendations tag where we can always find new ideas for movies/series to watch.

Here’s a shareable image for the Netflix recommendations tag. #netflixrecommendations

Movies I recommend

The Boy Who Harnessed The Wind

I finally watched this a few nights ago after the subtle urging of my boyfriend. IT WAS A COMPLETE EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER! I took the trip though and it was well worth it. completely inspiring and based on a true story. I won’t spoil it for anyone but it’s an absolute MUST-WATCH!

Cargo

A zombie movie with an interesting take. Watch as a father fights off a deadly virus to bring his daughter to safety. It’s not at all what I expect from a zombie film and that made it surprisingly good.

Veronica

A Spanish horror movie that’s worth every minute of the subtitle reading.

The Fundamentals of Caring

A Netflix original I found while I search for good movie recommendations.

Immortals

This one is your classic Greek mythology based movie. Gods and goddesses warring against each other over human attention. That was a poor sales pitch but it made the list for a reason. It’s still worth the watch.

Matilda

A movie I could watch relentlessly. An all time favourite. I don’t think I’ll ever be two old to watch this.

The Amityville Horror

Another member of the horror genre which particularly piqued my interest after reading the novel. The novel spooked me and this movie did not fail in that arena. The truth of the story is what makes this film especially thrilling.

The Help

If you know me, you know I love a good historical black movie. Strong black character leads are my kryptonite and this movie has that. If you’re not afraid to learn about racial issues and history of much of the western world, this is a must watch.

Room

This film is one of my favourite Netflix discoveries. I completely happened upon it. Something about the simplicity of the title and the summary compelled me.

The Kissing Booth

The most realistic teenage romcom I’ve ever watched. That’s as much as I can say without spoiling it for you.

Series I recommend

Santa Clarita Diet

Starring the adorably hilarious, Drew Barrymore, Santa Clarita Diet is a weird spin on life with the undead. I’m not normally interested in zombies but this series got to me through the use of twisted humour. So much so that it has easily become one of my favourite series and I’m excited for its return on March 29 with season 3. If you’re a fan of comedy and zombies this will be a double whammy. So far it gets better with each season. Each episode lasts about 30 minutes so if you’re busy it’s an easy watch.

Nailed It

Ahhh Nailed It another love of mine. If you’re not offended by lo

Sugar Rush

American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace

Breaking Bad

The Big Family Cooking Showdown

The Boss Baby Back In Business

Chewing Gum

This is not for the kids but if you’re a millennial who doesn’t take yourself too seriously this is a must-watch.

Watership Down

Stranger Things

Have a great week.
