2020 Year In Review

Ah, 2020, the year that turned our lives upside down. Despite the seemed chaos of the year that was, I was fortunate enough to have had a positive experience. January is a month of reflection and planning for me. So all January long I’ll be sharing a series of lookbacks on 2020. In this 2020 year in review, I’ll be looking back on all that transpired for the blog within the year.

2020 was a tough year for all of us in different ways. We’ve lost many people along the way. So before I get into what I was able to accomplish please remember that if you survived 2020 that in itself is a great accomplishment.

Blog Views

Consistency really does pay off. This year my blog views grew to 5 figures. I’m extremely grateful to each and every person who took the time to read or peruse my site this year. I’m also proud of myself for creating content that so many of you found interesting and useful.

The best performing month for views was October with almost 3000 views. It still stuns me to think that thousands of people worldwide visit and read my blog.

The most popular post for 2020 were:

  1. Jamaican Food Bloggers You Should Know
  2. 15 Romantic Date Ideas You Can Do In Kingston
  3. 54 Popular Restaurants To Dine At In Kingston

For 2021 I want to propel my blog growth into 6 figures and build a brand you know and love.

Blog Schedule

2019 was the most consistent year for my blog and I’m proud of that but 2020 was not as stable. I made a total of 30 posts for the year. Falling from 35 the previous year.

2021 will see the return of the blog post schedule. Expect a new blog every Sunday at 12pm or 1pm. Feel free to hold me to this.

Blog partnerships

Unfortunately, The Sunny Side Ja saw no new blog partnerships this year. I did however create a post featuring Firmoo. I’m also still a contributor over on damajority, com, you can check them out if you haven’t already.

The highlight of 2020 was my feature on astoldbynella.com as a Jamaican blogger you should know.

All in all 2020 had its ups and downs. It wasn’t the extravagant year I had hoped for but I saw growth and I’m grateful for that.

One last thing, I know this was year I review for my blog but I couldn’t leave without sharing some of the lessons 2020 taught me.

I learnt how:

  • to be still
  • to be closer to God, family and friends
  • value and prioritize relationships
  • love myself despite external flaws
  • bet on myself
  • to overcome fear of failure

What did 2020 teach you? Share it with me in the comments below. Happy New Year and may you achieve all the goals you’ve set for yourself.
