How To Make Money From Online Shopping

If you like to online shop like I do this title might sound like clickbait but believe me it isn’t. You can actually make money online shopping! It’s called getting cash back or rewards.
Here’s how it works…
Making money from online shopping is much like your membership card for your favourite grocery store provides you with rewards or a percentage of your money back for being a loyal shopper.
Similarly, in a bid to secure additional sales and remain competitive popular online stores grant cash back percentage on all shopping trips as a customer incentive. I don’t know about you but I love the idea of getting some of my money back whenever I shop. It made me think about all the money I could have saved had I learned about this sooner.
How do you get started making money from online shopping?
To start you must sign up with a cashback/rewards site like the ones I’ll recommend today. The sign-up process is quick and easy. And the best part is as soon as you’ve completed the sign-up process you can start shopping and saving.

What cash back/rewards sites should I use?
The two online programs I’ll be recommending are ones I personally use. But there are many other programs that offer similar experiences.
Honey and Rakuten are my current cash back programs of choice and here’s why:
Honey
Honey a browser extension that automatically finds and applies coupon codes at checkout with a single click. In addition to providing coupon codes, honey has rewards program where you can earn Honey Gold (points) towards gift cards.
This two fold savings is why I’d recommend honey. The browser can also give you comparative price analysis on products so you’ll know if the best time to buy is now. It tracks product prices and shows you how far the price has dropped.
With Honey, gift cards are redeemable after you’ve earned 1000 or more honey gold. Think of honey gold as a points system 1000 honey gold can be redeemed for a $10 gift card to some of your favourite stores. Imagine saving up all your honey gold points for a year and taking yourself on a guilt-free shopping spree.
The available Honey Gift card stores:
- Nike
- Sephora
- Amazon
- Walmart
- Macy’s
- Nordstrom
- Banana republic
- Old navy
- Gap
- Google play
- Lululemon
- Fanatics
- App store & iTunes etc

Rakuten
Unlike Honey, Rakuten is purely a cash back program. Depending on the store you chose varying cash back percentages are available. Cash back percentages also vary from day to day.
Rakuten has a wide array of stores where cash back is available, too many to name here but here are a few of my favourites:
- Sephora
- Nasty gal
- Forever21
- Asos
Another perk of Rakuten is the sign-on bonus. You’ll get $10 just for signing up! Sign up with my referral code and get $20 after your first $20 shopping trip as your sign up bonus. After you’ve earned your cashback, payments are made biannually. Rakuten also has two modes of payment Paypal or cheque.

Get started
To get started with Rakuten simply visit www.rakuten.com and sign up. Your adblocker needs to be disabled for this website to have full functionality of the program. However, with Honey, you’ll only need to make a one-time download of the honey web browser from the chrome web store (or another compatible browser store).
And that’s all you need to get started making money from online shopping even in Jamaica. Try it out and start saving.
