Body Skincare Products I’m Loving For Dry, Acne-Prone Skin

Finding the right skincare products for your skin can be difficult. There are so many products to choose from! Each one claiming to be better than the next with admittedly pretty great ingredients. Niacinamide, Ahas, Retinol you name it. So when you finally do find products that work it makes sense to keep them around. In my journey to take care of my skin from the inside out, I’ve found a few body skincare products that I’m loving for dry, acne-prone skin.
A few posts ago I shared how I’m taking care of my skin internally with two of my favourite anti-acne drinks. But I’m also working on my skin from the outside. My skincare routine has changed some since the last time I shared about it here. Learning to care for your skin and meet its needs is a deeply personal process and I’ve leaned into listening to my body and giving it what it needs.

Shea Butter
The first body skincare product to make the list is shea butter. As a person with dry skin moisture is always is my best friend. But even more than that I’ve noticed my skin’s dryness requires a little more assistance in maintaining the moisture. And that where shea butter comes in. I like to use it on my especially dry areas like my elbows, knees and heels but if I’m honest I use it all over. Shea butter works best when applied to damp skin. That way it seals in the hydration your skin experienced during your bath.
If shea butter is too thick for you try incorporating lotions made with shea butter into your routine. These lotions are usually a little lighter than the raw shea butter itself.

Aveeno Body Wash
I love this body wash! If you’re prone to back acne like me, you won’t have anything to worry about with this body cleanser. My skin is pretty sensitive to ingredients so when I tried this product and realized my skin was not excessively dry or irritated afterwards I was pleasantly surprised. Aveeno as a brand is known for quality skincare products but I’ve had a bad experience with another popular brand so my hopes weren’t too high.
Although this is a fragranced product it has a light, enjoyable scent. The fragrance had no negative effect on my skin. In fact, it’s been gentle and dare I say moisturizing. It’s marketed for sensitive skin and that claim gets a stamp of approval from me. I would even go a step further to say it’s a good fit as a body skincare product for dry, acne-prone skin.

Sugar Wax
When it comes to hair removal, I prefer waxing to shaving. When compared to shaving, waxing has longer lasting and smoother results and is even less likely to cause irritation. But wax appointments can be expensive so to minimize the maintenance cost I like to wax easy areas like my legs and underarms myself. Sincere Skincare Sugar Wax allows me to do that easily and affordably. For just under $4000 JMD you can get a wax kit with everything you’ll need for your first at-home wax session. In each wax kit, there’s a 9.5 fl. oz jar of wax with an applicator stick, wax strip and a bit of corn starch. To complete the kit there’s an instruction manual for beginners.
The wax is made up of 4 simple ingredients that have proven very friendly to my dry acne-prone skin. Just remember to exfoliate every week afterwards and exfoliate two nights before your next wax.

What’s next?
I recently added two new skincare products to my regimen. First Aid Beauty’s KP Bump Eraser and the 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant from Paula’s Choice. I needed a new exfoliant to replace the Glycolic acid toner from The Ordinary. I also wanted to try out a product that is specifically for KP aka strawberry legs. I’ll keep you updated on my progress with each.
First impressions
2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant
- So far the liquid exfoliant has given me softer skin and it may just be in my head but my acne scars seem lighter too. It’s only been two weeks though and I’ve only used it twice each week. I’ll provide an update after 6 weeks of use.
First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser
- It’s much of the same for the KP Bump Eraser. My skin is noticeably soft after each use and I’ve been careful to follow the instructions to moisturize my legs after I’ve scrubbed them. I can’t say whether the KP has improved in appearance yet but I’ll update your guys later.
