Skincare doesn’t stop at the face. And with acne-prone skin, it’s no secret that acne can impact several parts of the body. The face, back, arms and even your butt. Enter the Ettenio Sorrel Body Wash.
For months I’ve been on the hunt for the best body wash for my skin. While most body washes tend to get the job of cleaning the skin done, they also leave the skin feeling stripped and dry. Do you know that squeaky clean feeling that tells you your skin has been robbed of all moisture? Yep, that’s not what your skin needs.
A good body wash balances the cleansing of the skin by replenishing the skin with moisture.
Ettenio’s line of body washes meet the mark on that.
According to Ettenio, the Sorrel Body Wash is an “extra-gentle, sulphate-free body wash that is great for all skin types as it nourishes, soothes, purifies and heals your skin. Jamaican Sorrel helps to fight the signs of aging and replenishes and restores your skin’s natural moisture barrier to keep it silky smooth and moisturized for the entire day. Other superstar ingredients like Kaolin Clay, Vitamin B5, and Oatmeal Kernel are packed with nourishing vitamins and antioxidants for truly healthier and softer skin.”

Here are 4 things I love about Ettenio’s Sorrel Body Wash:
Made in Jamaica
Unlike a lot of the body washes I’ve tried before, the Ettenio brand is Jamaican.
And I love to find a good Jamaican-made product to add to my self-care stash or my home. Although it’s typically easier to find high-quality food and art products made locally it is often harder to find the same in the skincare department.
With most Jamaican skincare brands focussing on all-natural fixes to common skincare issues local products can be a hit or miss. Unfortunately, all skincare issues are not solved using gentle natural ingredients.
Ettenio’s product however pairs the science of skincare with great natural products to provide solutions to skincare issues.
Antoinette Davis, founder and CEO of Ettenio hair and body products has done an excellent job with her line of products. I use a number of the products from the hair and body category. The Free At Last leave-in conditioner has been a staple for my hair as well as the ??? moisturizer. I also have the deep pore cleansing cream for a deep clean with kaolin clay.
The Ettenio product lines are comprehensive and worth the investment. As a woman, it is always important to me to support woman-owned businesses as much as possible.
Earlier I mentioned that Ettenio marries natural ingredients with the science of skincare well. The Sorrel Body Wash is filled with a number of natural ingredients including aloe vera, kaolin clay, and oatmeal. Of course, leading this list is the sorrel, the product is named for. A key ingredient I didn’t expect to see is lactic acid but we’ll talk about that in the next point.
Gentle exfoliation with Lactic acid
Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid that is used on the skin to remove dead skin cells and help fade dark spots and soften fine lines. And boy does it do the job well. Known to be one of the gentler alpha hydroxy acids for melanated skin Lactic acid gently exfoliates the skin to reveal softer more even skin over time.
Personally, I think this is an excellent addition to a body wash. While many body wash companies are moving to incorporate powerhouse ingredient niacinamide into their ingredient list, Ettenio has shown me that lactic acid for those with acne may be a better option.
Adding this body wash to my routine completely softened my skin and sloughed off the bacne.
This may not be a big deal for everyone but even in the most moisturizing of body cleansers, I like to experience a good lather. There’s just something about the lather that I associate with the cleansing power of a product. If you’re fond of a good lather like me, a little of this product goes a long way.
I didn’t have particularly great expectations for this body wash. Honestly, I bought it because I’ve tried the lotion and loved its scent. In my head, I knew that I had a good experience with other products from the brand so I may have a good one with the body wash but I was not expecting the transformation it made with my skin.
I strongly recommend this body wash to anyone who wants to improve the look and feel of their skin with gentle daily exfoliation.
