YTTP Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream Review

We all know a product with a fluffy long names that make you question their worth right away. If I saw the Youth to the People Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream on a store shelf I probably wouldn’t have looked twice. Though I’ve heard great reviews about other products from this brand, as a prudent consumer the overly descriptive name would give me pause. But had a given into my cautious nature I would have missed out on what has quickly become my favourite facial moisturiser of 2024.

Luckily for me, my desire to try new things was set ablaze yet again when I received my annual birthday gift from Sephora (love this store!). As usual they provided three options for gifts and though I don’t remember the other two options right now I know the best pick of the bunch was the Youth to the People trial set. Included in the set was the facial cleanser, moisturise cream and dream mask.

I tested the set and after about a month of use I had thoroughly enjoyed the cleanser and moisture cream. But let’s evaluate the YTTP Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream against the product promises.

According to the Youth to the people website, “this lightweight face cream floods skin with vital hydrating ingredients for long-lasting moisture that’s never heavy or greasy. Superfood and vitamin-rich, it cools and comforts skin, leaving a healthy, natural glow. Suitable for acne-prone skin, won’t clog pores, and layers well with makeup.

What it is: A lightweight gel moisturizer that visibly plumps, provides up to 48 hours of hydration, and helps strengthen the moisture barrier in one hour.

How does the Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream compare to The Ordinary’s Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA?

If you’ve been a recurring visitor to this blog or you’ve been subscribed for a while you’ll know that the Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA from The Ordinary has been my staple moisturiser since 2020. I’ve tried a few others but when my skin was at its worst I could count on The Ordinary to keep it moisturise without sending my skin into a downward spiral.

So what made me change my mind? Honestly, curiosity. I’ve always felt my skin was made to feel a bit too greasy with the Natural Moisturising Factors moisturiser but it didn’t break me out so we had a good thing going. I was willing to walk with a napkin for my face in the name of improving my skin’s moisture barrier and I was happy doing it too. That was until the cult favourite superfood moisturiser landed in my lap for the low, low price of free.99. I decided to take a break from my go-to moisturiser and give Youth to the People a try and I was not disappointed, in fact I was pleasantly surprised.

Light weight, check! Deep penetrating moisture, check! Fast drying and non-greasy, double check! With all my boxes ticked it was a no brainer. Though The Ordinary’s moisturiser helped me maintain my skin for three years, Youth to the people took it up a notch building on the areas I took the most issue with in my previous moisturiser.

For the price, The Ordinary’s moisturiser is a good one that will do the job even for acne prone skin. It may mean you’ll be a little shinier than you’d like but at least your skin won’t be inflamed. However, if you can afford to invest more money into your skincare, the Youth to the people Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream is a great option with none of the trade offs.

My personal favourite place to get it is at Sephora, where every purchase racks up points towards a gift if you’ve signed up to be a rewards member.

How much does it cost?

The 0.5 ounce jar costs $16 USD and can last you about a month. Meanwhile the two (2) ounce jar will run you $48 USD. I can’t provide a use estimate just yet because I’m still using my 2oz jar I purchased in April 2024 and it is now August 2024. I’m just about half way into the jar so if I had to give you an educated guess as to how long it’ll last me I’d say just shy of the end of the year.

Final thoughts

When I got the opportunity to try the suite of products from Youth to the People I had no real expectations. I knew however that the brand was well respected in the skincare community and had its own cult following. Despite this I expected the very least. Having struggled with introducing new products to my skincare routine over the years it helps not to get your hopes up so when I found that my skin had absolutely no adverse reaction to the Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream you can imagine my elation.

Add to that, my skin actually thriving and looking plump with each use, I was truly in skincare heaven and have been ever since. It’s safer to say I would recommend this moisturiser a thousand times over.
